Barren Co. Schools names new Director of Transportation
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - Barren County Schools names Joey Bunch as the new Director of Transportation for the school system.
Bunch has been a teacher, guidance counselor, and administrator in Barren County Schools since 2004.
He began his teaching career at Hiseville Elementary where he also served as a guidance counselor.
In 2017, he became principal of Austin-Tracy Elementary School. Under his leadership,
Austin Tracy achieved a four star rating from the Kentucky Department of Education and was also recognized by the Kentucky State Commissioner of Education as a Top 20 School for Growth.
Bunch earned his Master of Science in Elementary Education from Western Kentucky University in 2004 and went on to earn a master’s degree in school counseling from WKU in 2009.
He received his administrative certification from University of the Cumberlands in 2015.
“It is an honor to be chosen as the Director of Transportation for the Barren County School System where I have the opportunity to lead an outstanding group of individuals who are the first point of contact for so many of our students each day. I look forward to working with our bus drivers, parents, students and all of the staff within Barren County to make sure that our transportation department offers a safe and supportive environment for our students and transportation staff,” Bunch commented.
Bo Matthews, Superintendent of Barren County Schools stated, “I am pleased to announce Mr. Bunch as the new transportation director. Joey has a strong track record within the Barren County School District. His leadership skills and experience will serve the transportation department well.”
